For over 20 years, British Way English Academy has been the largest English training academy in Sri Lanka, with sixteen branches island-wide, graduating over 21,000 students annually under the expert guidance of our dynamic and well-educated team of lecturers.

We are an ISO 9001:2008 certified company and were awarded the title of Best English Academy of the World at the 7th World Scientific Congress (2016) held at the UNO headquarters in Geneva. We are also the winner of the “MASSCO Awards” for 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, and received the SLIM Brand Excellence Award in 2017. Additionally, we were recognized with a Merit Award by the National Chamber of Commerce in 2017, further affirming our leadership in the field.
To strengthen our mission, we are affiliated with the most reputable and largest assessment body in the world, Educational Testing Service (ETS®), the developers and owners of TOEFL® and TOEIC®.
We are now partnered with Lincoln University, Malaysia, offering a Bachelor’s degree in English, and with Pearson Qualifications, providing international recognition in English. Moving forward, we are offering our top students internships in Vietnam and Italy in collaboration with AIESEC Colombo. We have also established our international presence with our first overseas branch in Vietnam, marking the beginning of our global branch network.
The first British Way branch opened in Nittambuwa. The first class only had 7 students. As they say, from small acorns, mighty oak trees grow.
Kiribathgoda branch opened.
Negombo branch was established.
A busy year! Two branches were opened: Kandy and Nugegoda.
British way went from strength to strength. 3 branches were established: Matara, Galle and Anuradhapura.
Gampaha branch was established.
Rathnapura branch opened.
Our first Tamil branch in Jaffna opened its doors. Also, NIPS Campus was established in Gampaha.
BWEA won the award for the Best English Academy in the world at UNESCO’s 7th World Scientific Congress in Geneva. Our first MASSCO Award for Best English Academy came this year.
Our 13th branch in Embilipitiya opened. This year too, Thames College joined the BWEA family. Also, we were awarded the SLIM Brand Excellence Award this year. If this wasn’t enough, a Special Presidential Award was given by His Excellency hon. President Maithripala Sirisena recognizing the service we have rendered towards the development of the young generation’s education and skills. We were awarded the MASSCO Award for the Best English Academy in Sri Lanka for the second time this year.
Consecutively for the third year, we were honoured with MASSCO Award for the Best English Academy in Sri Lanka. We set up our new branches in Bandarawela, Kalutara and Polonnaruwa paving the way to thousands of students to enter the knowledge-based community with flying colours.
This year too was written in red letter with a lot of awards and international recognition. Three new branches were opened in Kaluthara, Bandarawela and Polonnaruwa. We were awarded the Brand of the Year at SLIM Brand Excellence held in 2019. We received the MASSCO award for the best English Academy in Sri Lanka for the 4th consecutive time. Bachelor of Education in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) awarded by our partner university college, Lincoln University College, was started enabling many Sri Lankan students to obtain an international degree in Sri Lanka.
We opened our first international branch in Da Nang, Vietnam marking the beginning of an international network. The first International School of British Way International school network was established in Nittambuwa opening thousands of students receive quality education that keep them one step ahead of others.
